News & Events

  • Special Olympics Asia Pacific games for Intellectually disabled was organised during 28th Nov to 8th Dec 2013 at New Castle in Australia. 383 athletes from all over India participated in different games. 31 athletes from Gujarat participated. From Dahod Blind welfare council there were 2 athletes: Girish Gosai - male football. Neelam Patel -Female Table tennis Girish stood at 5th position and Neelam could win Gold medal. Its great pride for both families, BWC, Dahod and Gujarat.
  • Special Olympics State Tournament for the Intellectually challenged was held from 21 - 23 Dec 2013. 200 athletes from Dahod, PMS, Mahisaagar Participated in Semi Final and Final games. They participated in different events like Athletics, Cycling, swimming, Basket ball, Hand ball, Football, TableTennis, Badminton, Bocchee etc and could win 89 medals. 35 Gold, 30 silver, and 24 Bronze. Congatulations to all athletes, coaches, teachers and all members of Blind welfare council Dahod.
  • With the kind support of the Police department - Suraksha setu society and Sanskar adventure club the students of Blind welfare council Dahod and NAB those who are with Intellectualdisability, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and loco motor disability experienced a special adventure camp at Ratan mahal near Dhanpur. They were trained for Rifle shooting, River crossing on ropes ( hanging ). They enjoyed a lot in the lap of Nature.
  • 3 Athletes of BWC Dahod have participated in the final International coaching at Chennai, Most probably they shall be selected for the World summer games in US to be held in July - August 2015
  • CRE -( Continuing Rehabilitation Educaton) :- training programme for special teachers of children with mental disabilities.TOPIC : Physical education Games, Sports for children with mental retardation The 3 days CRE programme on Physical education Games, Sports for children with mental retardation was held during 27th to 29th March2015. 40 teachers from Special schools, Inclusive education programme for disabled children, and SSA from all over Gujarat participated in this programme The opening ceremony was done by Shri Y F Kapadiya –(Hon Gen Secretary of Blind welfare council). The presentations were made by their respective experts. Different topics on Yoga, Sports, popular normal games, warming up, Physical fitness, Physiotherapy Body posture, First Aid, etc as per the need on the topic were developed and prepared by the experts. Most of the sessions were practical based. Practical skill development training was imparted in Football, Basket ball, Volleyball, Badminton, Athletics, Bocchee game etc in relation to Special Olympics games. Balanced diet and nutrition part was discussed in Yoga class. Lot of activities, group discussion and practical work was done. All teachers shared their practical experiences and took part in all theoretical and practical sessions with great interest. Overall it was a successful programme with live interaction.
